The online sharing of the watermarked paper collection dating from 1293 (date existing on the oldest document preserved in Fabriano) up to the beginning of the third millennium has now become a new and fundamental instrument in historic studies on paper and watermarks. Having a collection of watermarks closely linked to the place of production and easily retrievable has opened up new fields of historic, economic, technical, artistic studies in research and development connected to paleography, diplomatics, philology and bibliography.
We further would like to share with you the novelty represented by the configurator (software which enable you to see the papers) which will further facilitate the study of watermarks.
